Going in accordance with it, supply of service by RWA to its own members by way of reimbursement of charges or share of contribution up to an amount of Rs. 5,000/- per month per member for providing services and goods for the common use of its members in a housing society or a residential complex are exempt from GST. Further, if the aggregate turnover of such RWA is up to Rs.20 Lakhs in a financial year, then such supplies would be exempted from GST even if charges per member are more than Rs. 5,000/-.

Charges on services provided for lodging/boarding in hostels by such educational institutions which are providing preschool education and education up to higher secondary schools or equivalent or education leading to a quapfication recognised by law, are fully exempt from GST.

Services provided by educational institution to students, staff and faculty:

It may be mentioned that services provided by an educational institution to students, faculty and staff are fully exempt.

Further, the meaning of educational institution is stated below:

Educational institution imparting

i. preschool education and education up to higher secondary school or equivalent

ii. education as a part of a curriculum for obtaining a quapfication recognised by any law for the time being in force

iii. education as a part of an approved vocational education course.
